It’s been a busy few weeks here at Tanique! The most common worry for new clients coming for their first spray tan is being shy about getting their bodies out. At Tanique, we couldn’t care less if you are a size 8 or an 18, it’s all about giving you the perfect tan!
Tanique is also pleased to announce we’re now a listed service on Wahanda! just download the app or visit the website. That means you can redeem Tesco Clubcard vouchers, giftcards and other vouchers. Don’t forget I can take secure card payments directly too for your convenience.
We also have a Facebook page that I’ll be running competitions on. I’ll be very grateful for clients old and new to leave reviews <3
For anyone that books a spray tan with me I always send a PDF with pre-care and after-care advice as its very important to follow to enable you to get the best out of your tan, below to get the most out of your tanning experience:
Choose your Spray Tanner carefully: Only go somewhere that uses professional tanning solution! Check with your tanner of choice and ask what brand they use. If it’s not a professional solution, go somewhere else or risk being orange.
Schedule intelligently: This may seem like a no brainer, but don’t try your first spray tan right before an event. It’s best to try it one month before your party, holiday or wedding so you can monitor your tan each day, and determine when your colour looks its best. Skin tip: For most people, a spray tan looks best two days after application.
Prep your skin: Twenty four hours prior to your appointment, exfoliate with an oil-free body scrub or polish. Shave or wax all unwanted hair at least 24 hours before your spray tan.
Arrive with bare skin: Go to your appointment with completely clean skin because products can prevent even application. This means no makeup, sunscreen, lotion, deodorant, moisturiser or perfume!
Dress accordingly: Wear whatever makes you most comfortable! Whether it’s a bikini or underwear and bra or nothing at all, the decision is completely up to you. Also, keep in mind that colour will transfer so it’s best to have loose fitting, dark clothing to wear after your spray.
Don’t skimp on the barrier lotion: Once you’re at your appointment, it’s time to lather up! Your technician will have a lotion for you to apply liberally to your hands, wrists, feet and ankles. Don’t forget your nail beds!
Stand still: Once you’re ready to start the spray tan, stand still, close your eyes and anticipate the cold (trust me, it’s worth it)! Wiggling around can cause streaking and an uneven application of the spray tan.
Shower properly: After 8-9 hours you can rinse off in the shower (only washing your pits and parts!). The solution can take anywhere from 6-12 hours to develop, and showering too early can lighten the colour. When you get out of the shower, your colour may be significantly lighter than when you went it, but don’t worry – from that point on it will continue to deepen.
Skip your workout: Yes, you heard right! Avoid the gym until after your first shower or risk ending up with streaks from your sweat.
Maintenance: To prolong the life of your spray tan, avoid water sports, salt water and exfoliation. During the fading process, stay moisturised! This will minimize any unevenness or blotchiness that you many experience.
